Thank you to all of you who are still subscribed to my blog. The reason I have put my blog on the back burner is because I am working to build an Etsy shop called Minuet Crochet. I sell handmade crocheted items on my shop including boot cuffs, scarves, wrist warmers, and cup cozies. All of the items are handmade by me personally.
Elizabeth from Delightfully Tacky has partnered up with me to feature my shop today. I would love it if you would go check out her post and enter the giveaway for a set of my crocheted items! If you would like to buy the items you can save 10% on your entire order with the code “TACKY10”.
Thank you for checking out Delightfully Tacky’s post and my Etsy shop!

Even though I am no longer posting regularly I figure I will still share things every once in a while.
This afternoon I have a SALE to share with you! ILY Couture is offering coupons on LivingSocial for their Bubble Statement Necklace. The necklaces are normally $49. With the coupon code they are only $16!! Simply use this link to go to the LivingSocial website. You pay $16 in the LivingSocial checkout. Once you complete your purchase you will receive an email with your exclusive promotion code. When you go to ILY Couture’s website you simply select the necklace you want, head to the checkout, and enter your promotional code. It will deduct $49 (as you already paid the $16 purchase price on LivingSocial) and you are left with a $4.95 shipping cost. So for just $21 you are getting a $49. More than 50% off!
I ended up buying 2 necklaces because it was such a great deal! One in wine and one in turquoise.

I recently ordered a new purse from Wilson’s Leather and I love it even more in person than I already did online!
You may remember my burlap purse from one of my early posts. I absolutely love it, however, burlap doesn’t match with absolutely everything. I needed a bag that looked more streamlined and tailored for my dressy outfits.
I had been holding out on buying a bag because I am picky (read as “have expensive taste”). I often leave things I love behind in a store because I know that if I spend a ton of money on an item I will inevitably feel buyer’s remorse and ultimately not enjoy it anyway.
Wilson’s sent me an email for 25% off of a purchase and free shipping. I immediately hopped on their website to see if anything fit my high standards. This bag jumped out right away. The giraffe pattern was chic while still being fun. The long and shallow shape means I can still fit a lot in the bag without having to dig in a deep bag for the items I want.
The price was the absolute best part. The bag was originally $150. After markdowns and my 25% promotional code I was able to buy it for only $45!! 🙂
What kind of handbags do you like to carry? Do you have several bags or one go-to?

If you haven’t heard of TOMS yet I highly recommend checking them out. (They are currently offering free shipping on ALL orders!
The great thing about TOMS is that for every pair sold they donate a pair of shoes to children in need all over the world. The shoes can protect these children’s feet not only from cuts and scrapes, but also from infection and disease. Also, because children’s feet are constantly growing TOMS makes a point of donating a new pair of the shoes to the children after 6 months.
I learned about TOMS through my cousin. I was looking for a pair of comfortable shoes that would be appropriate for my job as a classroom music teacher. As much as I would have loved to wear a pair of cute heels with my outfit everyday it simply wouldn’t be practical for dancing and playing music games in the classroom all day.
I have two pairs so far, a pair of classics and a pair of ballet flats. You have seen my ballet flats in several posts now. I will wear the classics more in the fall. Here are some photos of me in my ballet flats.
If you’re looking at the ballet flats now is the time to jump! They seem to be going on a hiatus. There are only a few pairs left in the “last chance” section. Best of all TOMS is offering free shipping on all orders up until 8/27.

I thought I would switch things up a bit today with a fitness post! Allow me to introduce you to my free at home personal trainer!
Nike Training Club is a free app by Nike for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. I have been using this app for 2 years now and I absolutely love it.
It can be difficult to keep a workout focused and moving along when you’re working on your own. The Nike Training Club app alleviates that problem entirely. The workouts range in length from 15 minutes to 45 minutes. There are broad full body workouts based on your experience level; beginner, intermediate or advanced as well as short “Get Focused” workouts. You select the level that works for you and then you pick which workout you would like to use.
My favorite workouts to use are in the “Get Focused” section. I head straight to the “Ab Burner” each time I work out. An important side note: Certain workouts call for equipment like a medicine ball. For example, the Russian twists use a medicine ball, however, the move is still effective without the medicine ball, it simply adds resistance.
Before you begin your workout you can select a playlist from your device to go along with the workout. Once you begin the workout the app calls out what exercises to do. When you start a workout for the first time I recommend looking through it first. The best part of this app is that it provides video tutorials so you know how to do each exercise properly.
The app tracks your workouts for you and even allows you to post your progress to Facebook and Twitter. Once you reach certain benchmarks minute wise you can earn rewards. The rewards can be exclusive workouts used by celebrities or famous athletes. There are also rewards with healthy recipes.
So overall, this app is a major money and time saver. I had a membership to the gym for a year and found myself preferring to use the Nike Training Club app at home. It takes no time to get set-up, minimal to no equipment is required and there is no expensive fee.
I highly recommend this app to anyone looking to get in shape!
Have you used an app along with your workouts? How do you keep yourself motivated?
Hope you’re all having a wonderful Wednesday!

To switch things up a bit, I thought I would share one of my favorite product lines with you. When I am able I try to use natural products and eat natural foods. I am not perfect, some of my favorite make-ups are not natural and my sweet tooth wins out from time to time. However, when I find a natural product that can replace an artificial product, I become hooked! So today I want to share my Badger products with you!
Badger is one of my new favorite product lines. Badger is a small company from my wonderful state of New Hampshire which sells natural lip balms, chap sticks, joint/muscle rubs, bug sprays, sunscreens and more. All of their products are made with natural ingredients and many of them are USDA Certified Organic.
I have actually found that Badger products work better than other brand products. When I used their chap sticks and lip balms my lips are incredibly soft. They have a natural flavoring to them from actual organic items. When you read their ingredient lists (available online) all of the ingredients are recognizable, you will often see things like extra virgin olive oil, fair trade certified cocoa, and aloe on the labels. Here are some of my favorites.
This Sweet Orange Cocoa Butter Lip Balm has a flavor that reminds me of a creamsicle.
The Vanilla Madagascar Lip Balm has a delicious vanilla and cocoa flavor to it.
The Badger Sore Muscle Rub and Badger Sore Joint Rub definitely help with aches and pains at the end of the day. They also make great moisturizers for hands and legs. The scents are wonderful and come from the natural ingredients used to make them. The Sore Joint Rub Arnica Blend has the added benefit of helping reduce bruising. My acupuncturist taught me that arnica will actually speed up the healing process for a bruise.
Lastly, I have the Badger Sleep Balm. I like a little aromatherapy at the end of the day. This balm can be used as a lip balm at night to give you the nice scent of lavender and bergamot as you fall asleep.
If you try them I think you will fall in love with them just as I did. If you go to the Badger website you can see all of their products along with ingredient lists. They also sell the products on their website. If you prefer to buy them in store there is a place to search for retailers near you.
I hope you all are having a great week! The weekend is almost here!

I recently posted about the high lead content in many purses today. I consider myself to be health conscious and wanted to be sure I was not unnecessarily exposing myself to high levels of lead. The handbags that contained lead were those that were not made of genuine leather or fabrics. Genuine leather bags are awfully expensive and many people prefer not to have items made from animals.
So there is a bit of a back story as to how I ended up on the hunt for a burlap purse (read here for the story), however, the bag I found has finally come in! I had contacted customer service with a few questions about the bag and to see if I could possibly get one with the monkey on it that they had pictured on their website. When the box arrived the first thing I noticed was that they drew a cute smiley face on the box. I knew that must have been from the representative I spoke to who said she would be shipping my bag personally.
Before I had seen the article on ABC News about the high lead content in many handbags, I was on the hunt for a cute hobo bag. I wanted something big enough that I could throw in all of my essentials as well as a water bottle and my iPad if I needed it. I looked through so many stores and so many websites and I could not find any simple hobo bags. They were all quite elaborate and any of the ones I did like were way out of my price range.
When I googled “burlap purses” I was ecstatic to see that Twin Valley Bags had a simple hobo bag. It was a good size so I knew I could fit whatever I needed into it and it was also a cute design.
A close-up view of the bag.
I am thrilled with this bag. The construction is high quality and I can tell it will last for years and years. There were many other great types of bags on Twin Valley Bag’s website as well, messenger bags, iPad cases, totes, and even throw pillows! Here are some pictures from their website.
If the news article about the lead levels in handbags bothered you as much as it bothered me I highly recommend a Twin Valley Bag as a fashionable, eco-friendly and affordable alternative!
